Now that school has started again we want to take a look at some more awesome things our sisters have accomplished this summer!

This summer sisters Kayla Eidle, Emily Ingalls, Jessa Sablan, Jasmine Lee, Nicole Palk, Erica Haas, and Anne Glerum spent part of their summer on tour with the University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra in China!

Sister Kayla Eidle said "Over the summer, I and a handful of other sisters had the opportunity to travel with the UD Symphony Orchestra to China. The tour was an amazing experience because we got to perform in some very prestigious concert halls, experience things and people from a completely different culture than us, and eat some amazing food! A couple of my favorite parts was getting to see the Terracotta Warriors, and performing with two famous Pecking Opera singers!"

Several of our sisters spent part of their summer on tour with the University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra in China! Sister Jessa Sablan had this to say about the experience "This summer some of my sisters and I had the opportunity to travel to China with the University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra. Traveling to five different cities throughout the country, the UDSO used music to break language barriers and find things in common with other orchestras we performed with along the way." What an amazing experience in music and sisterhood! Wonderful job ladies!

Sister Abby Berman had an amazing opportunity as an intern this summer!
She told HP, "This summer I interned with Strathmore, a non-profit arts center in my hometown just outside of Washington, D.C. I worked in the rentals department and helped run musical events, give tours of Strathmore, and assist people with the beginning stages of event planning. This experience was very beneficial for my minor in music management and for my future career in arts administration!" That's awesome, Abby! Way to go!

Sister Gabby DeAngelis participated in the University's Summer Scholar program and raised soybeans! She told us, "I researched soil ecology with my plant & soil sciences professor over summer. We inoculated soybean plants with superior bradyrhizobia and specified viruses to manipulate nodule occupancy, thereby increasing overall yield." Way to go Gabby! What a smart, lovely sister!

Sister Jasmine Lee got to travel a lot this summer, not only to China, but also to France! She said “I participated in the 5th annual Delaware Choral Academy Symposium as one of the 4 members of the inaugural class representing the University of Delaware Orchestra. We experienced some of the culture of the south of France and performed with world class musicians in a world class venue, an old French cathedral.” That's so cool Jasmine! What an incredible summer!

Sister Haley Will also did some incredible research this summer! She told HP, “This summer, I participated in a Summer Internship Research Project with EPSCoR through the University of Delaware’s Summer Scholar Program. My research entailed climate change research on areas in Africa that are highly vulnerable to climate change impacts, and how they correlate to areas that have Gold, Coal, and Copper Mining Corporations.” Awesome stuff Haley!

Sister Rachel Roday told Eta Rho "I spent this summer working at the Bronx Zoo with all different kinds of animals. While these alpacas weren’t my favorite to clean up after, they were extremely photogenic!" We're so jealous of the quality time Rachel got with these adorable animals! Our sisters are such awesome people!

Sister Cathy Nadar spent her summer doing research on the neural basis multisensory integration in a cognitive neuropsychology lab. On the weekends, she marched baritone with the Redding Buccaneers, the 2018 DCA world champions. What a busy summer for this fabulous sister!

Sister Charlotte Kronick was another participant in the Summer Scholars Program!
"This summer I did research in the UD Summer Scholars program with the Peer Relations Psychology lab. I researched how gender affects children’s likelihood of making aggressive statements to a peer and their response to aggressive statements directed at them. I had a great time getting more familiar with doing psych research and working more closely with my lab!" Way to go Charlotte!

Sister Catie Preszler and almuna Haley Graham went to the Inaugural Eastman Leadership Academy! Catie said "Haley and I both were Accepted into the inaugural Eastman School of Music Leadership Academy. We were there for a week and learned about arts leadership, community involvement through the arts, and collaboration with other leaders from across the US! I was so excited because I got to work with some of the most well renowned artists, advocates, and educators in the country!" What an awesome experience! Way to go, ladies!

Catie also got to participate in the university's Summer Scholars program! She told HP, "For summer scholars, my presentation was entitled “Percy Grainger’s Quest to Elevate the Folk Song”. I worked with the UD director of concert bands, Dr. Lauren Reynolds, to research the development of the folk song through Percy Grainger’s compositions, specifically Lincolnshire Posy. I chose to research this topic because of my love for wind band history!" What a busy summer full of accomplishments for Catie! Great job!
